This area spans three specific fields. The first is organization theory with specific focus on:

  • Network theory applied to the study of organizational structures and dynamics;

  • Categorization and status in organizations from a sociology perspective;

  • Complex systems theory applied to technological and organizational design (modularity);

  • Configurational analysis applied organizational forms.

The second is organizational behavior, with an emphasis on human-technology interactions, decision making biases in managerial work, teamwork, diversity management and leadership. The third is human resource management with particular attention to strategic human resource management (e.g. strategic human capital, blended workforces), high involvement work practices (e.g. lean production environments) and social sustainability (e.g. occupational safety, workers’ well-being and satisfaction).
